The topic of climate change emerges in recent years and many start exploring plant-based diets. MANA! situated in the bustling city centre of Hong Kong is part of the gang. As an advocator of sustainable eating, the restaurant offers a wide range of international vegan quick meals whilst promoting their own mantras.
Flats (short for flatbread) are one of the best of MANA!’s. Inspired by the founder’s favourite Lebanese traditional breakfast bread, the flats are made from scratch every day. The dough made by organic wholewheat flour, extra virgin olive oil and filtered water is hand rolled and pressed every day, then baked in a brick oven. Coated in zaatar and topped with your choices of 30 toppings, these flats bring you the simple freshness from all the delicious ingredients.
The MANA! Falafel flat is surely the best of all. Also from the Middle East, the falafel adds so much crunchiness and richness to the greens, which is indeed all Middle Eastern goodness in a bite.
The Classic Burger is another customers’ favourite. Like regular burgers, there is cheese (vegan halloumi cheese) and veggies. You won’t see a beef patty in the burger, yet a portobello mushroom instead. The mushroom is very well-seasoned and its thickness well-recreates the meatiness of meat patties. Their tasty creamy garlicnaise is one of their unique sauces and is a must-have if you don’t mind garlic. There are also salads, chips, soups to add on, as well as cookies and cakes for those who have a sweet tooth.
While family and friends gather for their love for food in the relaxing sitting area of MANA!, things go beyond eating. All packaging in the restaurant is biodegradable and is decomposed into soil through partnering organisations, which in return grow nourishing crops that will go back to MANA!. The restaurant has an effective leftovers and packaging disposal system to collect the waste. Customers actively participate in by taking the first step to dispose the uneaten food and packaging into the bins in the restaurant and support MANA!’s mantra to eat without costing the Earth.
It is safe to say that eating in MANA! is an enjoyment. Not only can we eat without worrying about environmental and ethical issues, but also not compromising taste or flavour. So do pay a visit to MANA! and start eating eco-consciously.
