Have you ever visited a speakeasy in Hong Kong? If not, J. Boroski is your starting point! Rest assured that J. Boroski is perfectly legal to sell alcoholic beverages. You only need to spend a bit more time looking for its elusive entrance, as it aims to replicate the secrecy of a historical speakeasy.

The name of the bar derives from its owner Joseph Boroski. Boroski is a mixultant famously known as “the man behind all cocktail menus all over the world.” He specializes in coming up with innovative cocktail menus. Established in 2014, J. Boroski was the proud baby of Joseph Boroski and Dining Concept. If you are a regular bar-hopper, you may have already heard of Dining Concept. Dining Concept is a Hong Kong F&B leader that creates the most extravagant bars in town, including Iron Fairies, Ophelia, and Dear Lilly.

Concave wall of ladybugs

Thanks to the interior design created by Ashley Sutton, J. Boroski gives off an otherworldly ambiance. After you have pushed through a heavy metal door at the end of its entrance, a receptionist will lead you to a dimly lit chamber. The chamber is presented as an underground gallery that features thousands of ladybugs on its concave surface. The impressive ladybug facade worths a snapshot.

One special thing about J.Boroski is that it offers no menu. All cocktails are customized based on the customers’ choice of base and flavor. The bartender has prepared two customized cocktails for my friend and me – one is daiquiri, and another one is sour-sweet fruity cocktail:

  1. Daiquiri

Daiquiri comes with a chilly and refreshing note, which reminds me of the taste of Thai food. Daiquiri prepared by the bartender is a mix of lime, rum, and coriander syrup. Something special about this Daiquiri is that the bartender has added her handmade coconut syrup. Also, it is garnished with basil.

2. Sour-sweet fruity cocktail

Garnished with raspberries skewer, this glass is a sweet dream for girls. It is a mix of fresh dragonfruit juice and mixed berries syrup. With a thick egg white foam on top, it will remind you of your most girlish days.

Since it is a popular bar, remember to make your reservation on busy weekend nights to save yourself a spot!
