Walk along the busy Ashley road and you shall see the standing chalkboard marking the special offers for the day, the open bar table, and rolls of wooden stools, and then you may look up and find the proportionally small sign Kowloon Taproom.
Being the sister shop of Hong Kong Island Tap House on the other side of the harbour, Kowloon Taproom is much smaller, but you could definitely find the same dedication to local craft beer. The wall is full of beer posters and coasters. Within the compact space, there are over 10 taps on rotation, covering various styles and local breweries. To help you choose, the menu shows a brief tasting note for each beer on tap. Some breweries such as Moonzen, Hong Kong Beer, Gweilo, Yardley Brothers, and Lovecraft are solid. Standard pub food is served. It is sufficient both in terms of choices, portion, and quality. It all makes Kowloon Taproom easily landing as the best craft beer option in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Visit Kowloon Taproom and you will be surprised by the booming craft beer culture in Hong Kong. It is an unpretentious and tiny bar. Hop in for a drink in the warm afternoon, relax and feel the contrast with the busy passerby. In its vicinity, Tsim Sha Tsui is also home to tons of restaurants, shopping areas (be aware of tourist scams though), and three major museums. You can get there by MTR and bus. It is also a 10mins walk from the Star Ferry.
