It’s a dreamy garden in which the Victorian pillars erected, flowers flourished and birds warbling amidst the fragrance of history. Resembling Alice in Wonderland, you will be enchanted by the Victoria Peak Garden.

Escape from reality

Fed up with the hustle and bustle of Central? Get some fresh air in the garden. Though it’s located in the area of The Peak, you may not find the financial district but the tranquility of southern part of the Island to the sea. The time is frozen here, that most of the relics remain intact – the pavilions, the lamp posts and the garden itself have existed more than a century.

If you want some fancy photos, Victorian Pavilion is definitely the best spot. Situated at the central of the garden, it is a renowned site for pre-wedding photo shoot, where the well-tended blossoms surrounded makes you aristocratic.

Back to the 19th Century

150 years ago, the Governor MacDonnell rebuilt the abandoned military sanatorium into his summer accommodation, the Mountain Lodge. Resided by different Governors, it witnessed the vicissitudes of Hong Kong, yet demolished in World War II. Nevertheless, the garden is well preserved and retrofitted to a public park, and has become the hot spot for chilling out. Put your mat on the ground, just sprawl your limbs beneath the sunlight to enjoy the serenity that rarely found in the city.

Remarks

Many hike up to the garden expecting this is the absolute peak of The Victoria Peak, which is now fenced off with some radio towers. Should you want to see some view, you may consider High West.
