The friendly neighborhood Gastropub wins a loyal following over the past 18 years. After a location move and upgrade in 2017, The Globe on Graham Street is now a modern, expansive space, with a big bar island sitting central with stools extending around, and partitioned pub booths, causal single seating and communal tables in other areas. But the highlight is in the lounging – an elevated ‘living room’ space filled with books, games, a huge plasma for film and football games. Everything is unpretentious and homey.
Listed as top 21 best beer bars in the world, The Globe has one of the broadest ale selections in, ahem, the globe. There you will be delighted to see their rotating drafts highlighting plenty of local, Japanese, American, and European craft brews, in addition to their list of over 100 bottles. The assortment is particularly focused on Belgian and English drops, and the bartenders are more than willing to guide you through it with a private tasting.
Don’t forget to try their excellent food, all satisfying in quality and quantity. The pub is famous for its pies. Though the menu is not extensive, it doesn’t disappoint. The Chips with Wasabi Mayonnaise is so darn good! The Pulled Lamb Shank with poached eggs and Sausage and Polenta cake or the Crumbed Ling with Mushy peas and sweet gherkin tartar are two gourmet’s hot picks
Cocktails are also great. The Martin Miller Gin and Tonic, served with a sprinkling of juniper berries is highly recommended. If you want something more fulfilling, take their fiery, thick Bloody Mary.
