Situated at the back streets of the promenade, the Stanley Market might sound like a place tailored for tourists but you could indeed lose yourself in a warren of cute little stores. Compared to other markets in town, the Stanley Market doesn’t wow the visitors in terms of its size but the wide range of local crafts and souvenirs they offer do distinguish themselves from the rest. Spending an hour or two wandering through the back alleys can lead you to some local surprises.

If you look for souvenirs…

You will find lots of gimmicky souvenirs that include Hong Kong-themed products, counterfeit handbags, silk clothing, handcrafted tableware, paintings and even Chinese calligraphy! If you like things fancy, you can even ask the artisans to write your names in rainbow art calligraphy that they combine Chinese brush strokes with multi-colored ink. So why not grab a few and bring home memories of your trip!

There are quite a few Chinese calligraphy stores here…
Antiques and arts everywhere
Jade and jewelry as well

Bargaining is not welcomed though as this market positions itself as a “high-end” place to align with the vibes of the affluent town. But no worries, the prices are still acceptable. The best time to visit is after lunchtime where most of the stores are open.
