As it is implied by the name, Tea (Cha) is first and foremost the item upon which you can decide the reputation of a Cha Chaan Teng. With tea, here comes Egg tart and pineapple bun a.k.a Bolo bun to form a tea set that can make a diner legendary. Kam Wah Cafe has earned just that status with their killer tea set.

Typical old style of Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng.

In case you are confused: pineapple bun is not at all made with pineapple. Rather, it is a soft fluffy bun with a layer of yellow crispy crumb on top which, with its criss cross pattern and texture, ignites people’s imagination of the skin of a pineapple.

Pineapple bun with butter.

Awarded the titles of “Best Cha Chaan Teng 2011” and “Best Restaurant in Mong Kok 2012-2014”, this family-owned restaurant is loved by the locals for their signature pineapple bun and egg tarts since 1973.

Served with a slab of ice cold butter, the normal Bolo bun is upgraded to the fantastic, hearty Boloyau. Indulge yourself in the wonderful tasting created by the ice cold slightly salty butter contrasting with the warm crumbly-topped pillowy bread. Then wash it down with a generous sip of rich milk tea. Heavenly.

Don’t forget ordering a cup of milk tea following your meal.

The CCT’s egg tarts are also highly celebrated by the folks, while the savory dishes are just as promising. With an extensive list of delicious comfort food from pork chop polo bun, satay beef bun, French toast (with condensed milk or peanut butter) to cheese curry pork chop noodles, Kam Wah is the go-to for the classic Hong Kong styled tea set and some of the best CCT cuisine.

The “golden” egg tarts are good for afternoon tea!
You can also find different kinds of tarts for taking away!

Expect long queue during busy hours.
