If you are a fan of beer and if you happen to be around Central, you may like to have a look at HK Brewcraft. It is a half bottle shop and half supply shop for homebrewers as well as a little space for beer workshops.

The shop is not easy to find. It is in a small building off the slope. Once you manage to find the building, you have to first climb a level up by some narrow stairs and then take the tiny lift to the 4th floor. By the way, a sketchy massage parlor is right below you.

Once you enter the shop, to your right there are shelves running along the length of the walls showcasing beers and cans from all over the world. By then you shall realize beer comes in great variety in terms of style, flavors, and prices (beer can be as expensive as wine). You shall see traditionalists who stick to the centuries-old recipe and experimental beer who look for fresh flavors and funky ingredients. You shall also find the main ingredients of beer for sale: yeast, malt, and different equipment.

To your left is the workspace where a series of tasting events, homebrewing classes, crash course for brewing mead would be held. Visit their website for the schedule and you can also book a private session at a time of your preference.

HK Brewcraft signifies the beginning of the blooming craft beer culture in Hong Kong. More and more people are starting to appreciate the value of craft beer and some people are starting to homebrew and more craft breweries are opening up recently.

The shop is in Central/Soho – the very center of fancy bars and restaurants in town. It is also within walking distance from the pier of Victoria Harbour.
