“Cost of bagasse, taste of roast goose”- the local saying is the best description of Dai Pai Dong Siu Chow, a restaurant famous for serving quality classic DPD cuisine in Wan Chai. The restaurant is as proud (or humble) and straightforward as its name suggests, which literally translates as “DPD stir-fry”.

This modern indoor Dai Pai Dong earns its popularity and reputation from mainly two things: their nice, spacious interior decorated with names of the dishes written on rainbow color cards posted on the wall; and, most importantly, their excellent food that, according to their fans, never fails.

The colorful, flavorful Assorted stir-fry (小炒皇) is a DPD classic that makes a perfect match with beer. A good mix of various ingredients such as leek flowers, dried shrimps, and cashews brings joy to everyone in the family.

If you look around, you probably will notice sweet and sour pork, known as foreigners’ all-time favorite Chinese food, is even popular at the restaurant. Crispy batter, juicy meat, sticky stringy sauce with a hint of fragrance of vinegar, it is just another rice killer.

To upgrade further the experience, go for the white pepper crab pot. For a very reasonable price, two meaty live crabs are used. First stir-fried and then baked with whole white peppers in a pot, this dish will bring the original DPD flavor to your taste buds.

If you happen to visit Wan Chai or Causeway Bay, treat yourself to a perfect meal at Dai Pai Dong Siu Chow Wong.
