One of the must-see things in Hong Kong has to be the breathtaking outlook on the city skyline. Forget about paying hundreds of dollars to get to the top of ICC or the Peak Tower, just head to the sky lobby of the Central Plaza in Wan Chai, which soars above the busiest roads from the 46th floor to embrace the 360-degree panoramic view of the concrete jungle for free!
Though the 76-storey Central Plaza is no longer the tallest building in the city, surpassed by IFC and ICC, you are still guaranteed with the most unique experience beyond the windows of its sky lobby. Unlike other observatory decks that only offer a limited view from one side of the building, on this sumptuous elevated platform, you can surely catch glimpses of everything surrounding the building from a bird’s eye perspective, from the Victoria Harbor sandwiched between the Island and the peninsula, to intersected roads within the cluster of skyscrapers in Wan Chai district. And what is the best part? It is the place where you escape from the sticky hot weather in summer and still enjoy something magnificent!
If you look up the building at night, you would notice a constant change of colors over its facade. Named as “Lightime”, the visual effect serves a much more practical function indicating the time from 18:00 to 06:00. But many simply think they are decorative lights as it is quite challenging to understand their timing sequence.
What’s more to visit?
The skyscraper is also home to the highest church in the world! The Sky City Church for sure owns the most breathtaking views on the 75th floor, allowing worshippers to get closer to god. They welcome people of all ages so feel free to hop in for their Sunday Service at 11 am.
