Mimi Ming
It’s Mimi here. Being an arts and law undergraduate at HKU, I always see the city through the lens of doubleness and duality.
Despite being an authentic, locally-grown Hongkonger, I must admit that my understanding of Hong Kong has been constantly shifting. My impression on Hong Kong is ever-changing since my birth. On one hand, Hong Kong has always awed me with her world-class metropolitan glamour; on the other hand, I can’t help noticing the more grassroots, on-the-ground, day-to-day lives that happen around the city as I grew up. The complexity and diversity of urban scenes that Hong Kong contained within herself has both confused me and fascinated me. The more I live and travel around the world, the more that I question: “what is Hong Kong?”
I do tell stories of Hong Kong, but I do want to leave the question open to you, so that you may fill in the blanks and co-create your stories of Hong Kong with me.
