Everything sounds extra charming if being named after the sun, moon, and star, and the Star Street Precinct – a neighborhood situated in between Wan Chai and Admiralty, definitely speaks for itself. The area has earned a rare distinction of being famous yet totally unknown by many, as the selection of restaurants, bars, cafes, and stores are tailored to the niche – the fashionistas, hipsters, and chill vibe seekers.

The precinct was where the first power plant was built more than a century ago so it was just an old neighborhood of the working-class. White collars started to rush in ever since Swire Properties opened the mall nearby in 2004, and a new ambiance of the district emerged. To visit the hidden oasis in the bustling metropolis, you have to spend a bit of effort: make a right from the Three Pacific Place on Queen’s Road East and climb up the steep slopes.

From the street-side cafes to fusion restaurants among the dead-end alleys, it is a place where you can spend the whole afternoon sipping up a coffee or craft beer. A lot of discoveries are also awaiting since the area is home to art galleries, pop-up stores, local and global brands that include Kapok – a hipster store selling fashionable items, Electric Cool – local chic houseware store, or even New York-based Le Labo’s fragrances. You can easily lose yourself in the cluster of stores that are rarely seen in malls, so include it on your bucket list!
