Sin Tat Plaza, well known or in many ways also notorious for stalls that sell second hand mobile phones and other various tech appliances and accessories. At first glance, you could say this is a place that could be called tech heaven for some but is Sin Tat Plaza really a reliable place to get yourself any kind of tech device especially second hand phones?

Sin Tat Plaza
Entrance

Sin Tat Plaza did enjoy a long glory but as of now, it is very sadly a dead town with only a few stalls left standing since the majority of the stalls are closed. This attraction should not be at the top of your list of things to do in Hong Kong.

The interior of Sin Tat Plaza

The answer to the question whether Sin Tat Plaza is a reliable place to get yourself a tech device, the answer to that is no. Though the lower prices are attractive it really doesn’t reflect the authenticity of the products that are being sold there. Something “new” in the different stalls might just be refurbished or parts of smartphones could have been swapped out.

Reviews by different locals in Hong Kong also portray its bad reputation. For example, purchasing a second hand smartphone works great but it’s good performance and longevity of the phone only lasts for about a year before it encounters problems with the interior of the smartphone. These reviews are very repetitive so the probability of coming across the same is high.

Sin Tat Plaza can stay off your tourist attractions spots list as it is not something worth taking time out of your short trip to go to. It is not a shopping experience that you will regret missing.
