Little Great Wall

As a well-known spot for locals, Cheung Chau is an island famed for its food and sceneries. However, wandering on those hectic streets is not the only way to enjoy the island’s fascination – hiking is also a remarkable choice!

As the Chinese saying goes, “You are not a real man without visiting the Great Wall.” We all know it’s in Beijing, but in Cheung Chau, there’s a trail named “Little Great Wall”. It may not be as magnificent as the real one but is still worth going as you can see a gorgeous seascape from there.

The 4km trail takes about 2 hours to finish, easy and suitable for all ages. Be reminded that you should bring enough snacks and water as there are no convenience stores on the way.

Where to start with?

Getting off from the ferry, you will be standing at the entrance of the pier. First, turn left to Tung Wan Road and go straight to the beach. Then, turn right and keep going, you will see a helipad and Kwun Yam Beach. Follow the path that leads you uphill and pass by a temple in the woods, until you see a fork road head.

16 strange rocks

Here’s the starting point of Little Great Wall. You should turn left to start your journey clockwise – as the road on the right is too steep and difficult for you.

Climbing flights of stairs, you will be seeing the amazing sea view. What’s more, there are 16 peculiar stones on the way, all of which are huge and have their names, like Human Head Rock, Fa Peng (which means flower vase), and Loaf Rock. Apart from that, there are some pavilions for you to take a rest.

When you see the House of Prayer, turn right to Ming Fai Road. On the way, you will pass by The Salvation Army Bradbury Camp where a downhill road will take you back to the beach.
