Halal Food Recommendation – Good Quality Without Compromising the Taste and Localness

Assalamualaikum. I know it’s tough, my muslim friends. It seems that while in Hong Kong, you just can’t enjoy good local food worry-free for our food culture is pork-heavy. But, hey, I’ve got good news for you. There are actually local restaurants that serves good Halal food, from Dim Sum to some extraordinary juicy beef buns, without compromising the taste and localness. So check this list out!

  1. Islamic Centre Canteen

Here it comes! Halal Dim Sum! Hidden in a mosque in Wan Chai, the only cantonese halal restaurant in town has been serving dim sum where pork is replaced by either chicken or beef since 2005. Its extensive menu features also wonton noodles, stir-fried beef noodles, and sweet and sour chicken.

One of the most well-known restaurants in Kowloon City, the halal-certified has been serving Chinese Islamic food since the 1980s. Slightly crispy on the outside, and juice-bursting on the inside, their pan-fried beef bun is something you can’t miss!

  1. Ma’s Restaurant

A popular Halal restaurants with international certification in Sham Shui Po, Ma’s serves Halal Northern Chinese food that is meaty, and heartily spiced. The Veal Goulash and Curry Lamb are the classics to try. 

  1. Lock Cha

Situated in the lush environs of Hong Kong Park in Admiralty, this elegant vegetarian teahouse is great for unwinding and escaping hectic HK life over the traditional breakfast and lunch. Also try their creative fusion like the Wasabi Green Pea Cake and the Golden Mushroom Samosa.
