In every old estate in Hong Kong, there must be a bakery. Door Door Bakery has served the residents of Mei Foo Sun Chuen for almost half a century with their freshly made products every day in nearby workshops. Though nougats and butter cookies — their best selling products, are western, their delicate touch of Chineseness in them steals the locals’ hearts.

A lot locals like to get their flavor here !

Best-known for their nougats, Door Door offers 10 flavours of nougats, both traditional and modern, crunchy and chewy. Wrapped in an edible film of rice paper, the Ginger and Almond Nougat is perhaps the most impressive. The strong spicy ginger stands out amidst the crunchiness of nutty almonds and sweetness of chewy nougats, pleasing your taste buds with one of the Chinese favorite tastes.

the Ginger and Almond Nougat

A crunchy option that contains as much Asian flavours is the Crispy Black Sesame Nougat. While sesame usually plays a supporting role in western cuisine, it stands as the protagonist in Chinese confectionery. Nuttiness comes through the nougat, with a crispy core that makes it even tastier. These typical Chinese flavours make the sweets of Door Door so unique.

Cookies here are not quite like your local ones, but their crumbly Coffee Butter Cookies are absolutely divine. Smelling the distinct cha-chaan-teng-style coffee scent before tasting it in your mouth is the way to take your experience to the next level. The coffee flavor balances out the sweetness of the cookies, as well as your guiltiness of diving into them.

If you are health-conscious , go for healthier options, like the Cashew and Quinoa Cookies. A bit more crunchy but less sugary and buttery, another popular choice.

Coffee Chocolate Cookies.

Pay a visit to Door Door Bakery and select the nougats and cookies that are up your street. Such fusion of tastes in confectionery is surely one-of-a-kind among local bakeries.

Lastly, Door Door is also known to their egg tarts  (both traditional and Portuguese)!

Portuguese tarts look so attractive to get!
