In Hong Kong, there are so many beaches where you can enjoy fine sand, clear water and great view. And with great accessibility and sufficient facility, drifting away from hustle and bustle in a world class city has never been so easy and fun. Now, take a look at our recommendation and find your favorite beach in Hong Kong.

  1. Stanley Main Beach & St. Stephen’s Beach

A must-go to enjoy the southern ocean view of Hong Kong! You can find two beautiful shores on the two sides of the Stanley peninsula. There are watersport centres at each beach where you can hire a variety of equipment from windsurfing boards to kayaks. St. Stephen’s Beach is an ideal beach to enjoy tranquil to sunset!

  1. Sai Wan Beach

Described as Maldives for its crystal-clear water and white sand beach, Sai Wan Beach is crowned top ten Hong Kong’s most beautiful sights. It take quite a bit of traffic to get to the beach but it’s absolutely contamination free in the protected area so best for sun busking and surfing in daytime, and camping at night with the galaxy hanging over the sky. Still, cafes are on the beachside, so you can just come bare-handed. 

  1. Ham Tin Beach

The paradisiacal beach is what the idyllic recess at the nook of Sai Kung fascinates people with. As though an oasis in desert, Ham Tin Beach is situated at the middle point of MacLehose Trail Stage 2, and accounted as an ideal retreat after those exhausting journeys. Embraced by a mountain, the top 4 most beautiful beach in Sai Kung will have you captivated with its wonderful view of South China Sea and isolated tranquility. Extra: there are an old store offering delectable food and dessert. 

  1. Long Ke Beach

Like an Easter Egg hidden in the south-eastward coastline and surrounded by the mountains, the ravishing Long Ke beach is the best example of serenity of nature in Hong Kong. Although the far-flung beach is unreachable by vehicles, it attracts people with its white sandy beach as well as a cerulean ocean resembling paradise on earth. Apart from crystal-clear water,  in the broad expanse of the beach you can do anything you like – volleyball, dodgeball, flying disc, or meditation, you name it. 

  1. Big Wave Beach

Far-flung but in fact convenient with the busy-scheduled minibuses and buses, the best beach for surfing is just 30 minutes from the nearest MTR station. In fact, it’s also a popular extension of a Dragon’s Back hike. As its name implies, Big Wave Beach provides you the natural drive to surf, alongside with lifeguard service, changing rooms and showers. There are three stores offering different types of surfboards for rent, including longboard, short board, soft or hard board- all for 50 HKD for a whole day. Basic supply such as food and water, swimsuit, mat and sun umbrella can be bought there too. So maybe grab a beer, read a book or play frisbee with your/ someone else’s dog. Why not?

  1. Shek O Beach

Flocked by both locals, expats and visitors, Shek O Beach at the southeastern tip of Hong Kong Island treats you with a blue edgeless sea sheltered by a rocky headland. Adjacent to Big Wave Beach, the southern beach of Shek O is only 30 minutes away from downtown. Public facilities like bathrooms, showers, changing rooms and even barbecue pits are also available. You can come bare handed since the stores sell basics and there the beachside restaurants offers local stir-fry and quick bite.
